Special Village Board Meeting of March 16, 2011

A Special Meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Village of Plain was held at the Municipal Building on March 16, 2011 at 6:30 p.m. The following members were present: Raymond Ellenbolt, President; Cole Brunson; Robert Jewell; Kevin Kraemer; Robert Neuheisel, and; John Schluter Trustees.

Others present: Nick Ruhland, Public Works Director

Notice of this meeting, along with the agenda, was posted at the following locations in the Village of Plain: the Municipal Building; the Plain Post Office; and, The Peoples Community Bank on Monday, March 14, 2011. Notice was emailed to the Home News and the Baraboo News Republic.

The purpose of this meeting was discussion and action regarding bids for inspection for the Cedar Street/Nachreiner Avenue project that were submitted by Strand Associates, Inc. and Westbrook Associated Engineers, Inc.

The meeting was called to order by President Ellenbolt at 6:32 p.m.

Trustee Kraemer, Streets Committee Chair, informed the board that the Committee met and recommends Westbrook Associated Engineers, Inc. for the inspection of the Cedar Street/Nachreiner Avenue project. In comparing the bids, Westbrook is $3.00 less per hour, but had quoted more hours. Having a different firm inspect would be a good checks and balances on these systems. It also may be better if the inspector is focused on one project so there is nothing missed on either of our projects. Trustee Schluter was concerned with the cost to get Westbrook up to speed. Kraemer indicated that the plans are bought and we are just asking for inspection and civil layout. Kraemer motioned to approve Westbrook Associated Engineers, Inc. Jewell seconded. Motion carried. Roll call vote: Ellenbolt – Yes; Brunson – Yes; Jewell – Yes; Kraemer – Yes; Neuheisel – Yes; Schluter – Yes.

Brunson motioned to adjourn the meeting at 6:54 p.m. Kraemer seconded. Motion carried.
