There were two bids were submitted for the 1055 Wachter Avenue demolition project. Bill Meise Construction, LLC of Spring Green submitted a bid of $14,500. Meise Construction, Inc. of Plain submitted a bid of $12,900.
President Ellenbolt stated there is $7,275 of the grant funds left and he feels that tax dollars should not pay to take the building down. Public Works and President Ellenbolt can take the building down for minimal costs using only grant money. Marty Limmex has been contacted and he can take out the hazardous material for about $3,000. President Ellenbolt motioned to reject all bids and the Village can manage the demolition as economical as possible. Schluter seconded. Motion carried with Meise abstaining.
There are materials in the house that people want to salvage. It would be environmentally responsible to recycle rather than put wanted items in dumpsters. The Board has no problem with individuals removing items from the building to reuse.
Ellenbolt motioned to adjourn the meeting at 6:11 p.m. Kraemer seconded. Motion carried.
